Fun with Jon and Jess!
Wildacres Weekend Newsflash: We pulled a fast one over on Mike: Jon and Jess came for a weekend visit and it was a TOTAL surprise for him! He was 100 percent bamboozled and floored to see Jon at the door Saturday morning - how neat was that?! He never suspected a thing!
We had really beautiful weather on Saturday, though a bit chilly. We tooled around the countryside giving Jon & Jess the ten-dollar tour, showing off New Milford and some our 'infamous' friends and local celebs. As Jon remarked, " how far away is civilization?!"
We took a tour of Hunt Hill Farm and marveled at the towering and beautiful Christmas tree in the Silo. What's truly amazing is that Ruth Henderson planted the tree - now about 40-feet tall - 35 years ago on the farm! There were some adorable rescue dogs there for adoption, and one in particular (we dubbed him Tripod) almost made the trip home to Binghamton!
A ride around lovely Lake Waramaug with a stop at Hopkins Inn for a sunset drink completed our touring rounds. Off to home for apple peeling - made an apple/cranberry crisp - good conversation and a hearty dinner.
We hated to say good-bye on Sunday, but we're looking forward to seeing them again on Thanksgiving weekend, along with Kate & Chris, and an added bonus: Mike and Jon will be going the Giants game this Sunday - a double-header of father-son bonding!!
As a chill took over this afternoon and the day darkened early, I was warmed by really nice, peaceful memories of a family weekend get-together that was filled with laughs and love. Can't ask for anything more than that in life, can we? Here's to surprises that are blessings in disguise!
