Last Trips to NY Stadia

Both the Mets and Yanks are getting new stadiums next year.

Katy and Mike each have many memories over the years (before they met) of both places. So at the end of August we made one last trip to Shea Stadium (Aug 24) and Yankee Stadium (Aug 28). What a great time we had, aided by great weather and easy driving.

Before the Mets/Astros game we had breakfast in the Diamond Club with Daryl Strawberry (he was surprised to see us). We had great seats and saw an excellent game though, despite Mike's rally cap, the Mets were unable to prevail. Nevertheless, we had a fabulous time and will hold the memories dear.

The Yanks, on the other hand, made out better. We saw the last Yankee Stadium game between the Bronx Bombers and the Boston Red Sox - what a fun day!We started with breakfast in the Diamond Club (no luminaries joined us - didn't realize we'd be there). Yankee Stadium is showing its age but the aura for the 'House That Ruth Built' is still there. The Giambino hit a pinch hit homer in the seventh inning and the game winning hit in the bottom of the ninth - a terrific experience when there are 55,000 Yank fans screaming! Here are some more pictures of our day at Yankee Stadium, including a picture of our seat mate, Burt Young, and our new friends who caught a foul ball.
