Moving on from that weekend-primer, we both worked from home on Friday and I finished up some last-minute items for the Family Farm Day fundraiser, to be held on Sunday. (www.saveridgeroadfarms.org) We spent a quiet evening at home and watched as Derek Jeter broke a tie with Lou Gehrig atop the Yankees’ all-time hits list, recording hit No. 2,722. He's such a classy guy and a great athlete. It was fitting that he attained this milestone in America's favorite sport on 9/11.
Saturday we attended Ruth Henderson's Annual Hunt Hill Farm BBQ and Silent Auction. Great food from Nodine’s Smokehouse of CT, wine from Hopkins Vineyard in Warren CT and live music by the VILLAGE JAMMERS. We had a chance to visit with some old friends and make a few new ones - it was a beautiful night!
Sunday we played golf at one of our favorite courses, Fairview Farm in Harwinton, under sunny skies. We played with a father and son duo who were delightful. I was pleased that I've gotten my 'groove' back and managed to have a very respectable game! We ended the day with dinner at the Bull's Bridge Inn watching the Giant's best the Redskin's 23-17.
Another weekend spent enjoying our beautiful surroundings and feeling very blessed to have our Litchfield County life.
